Ran a 1:42 half (slow) yesterday. I felt like I could have gone longer aerobically (7:49 mile) but my legs seized up at mile 12 and I felt like I was running through water. But when I finished I wasn't out of breath at all.
I would like to BQ in 2-4 years. Can it be done? I'm 35 and I'm not going to let age be an excuse--tons of Masters and stud runners 35-65 y/o, male and female.
Only started training 7 weeks ago, 180 miles (27 mpw), so I know I need to get up to 55 mpw or better this summer (for fall 'thon, such as Indy Monumental or Cbus or the like). Did 3 10-milers and 1 11-miler at easy effort for this trial half.
Should I get the half down to 1:25 or better before attempting my first full (delaying it another year or so)? Or try to go for 3:30 or 3:25 in the full this year as a baseline, and then try to get to 3 flat by 2021 or 2022?
