I really want to break the 50min 10km barrier this year and appreciate all the feedback and tips I can get.
I am a fairly new runner who have been running for 2 years and only began training serious 6 months ago.
My current race 10k pr is 54:53
5k pr (only training) is 26:39
3k pr (only training 15:11
Longest run 17km.
Weight 78kg
My weekly training consist of an average of 40km each week and I have been doing this for 8 weeks.
Mondays I do temporun at 5:50/km pace for 6km with 3km warmup and 1km cooldown. Total 10km.
Tuesday I do HIT training at the gym focusing on abs, back and legs exercises since people told me it can prevent injuries.
Wed I do 10k easypace running at around 6:50min/km.
Thirsday I do HIT training at the gym again.
Friday I do a recoveryrun 5km at 7:10min/km pace.
Saturday is my longrun which I do 15km which can have very different average paces each week. Usually between 6:20min/km - 7:30min/km. Sometimes I do negative splits and sometimes even pace all the way.
Sunday restday.
Is my goal of reaching sub 50min 10km realistic?
Is there anything I should change in my trainingplan?
Maybe I do some workouts wrong?
Any help is appreciated!
