We were just messing about on the way back from a lovely day out at the park, gym and food after. We saw a speed camera on the way back and decided to test our sprint speed. I’d say we had a good 40m to gear up to full speed before we ran past the camera so it was maybe a 50-60m sprint. I ran 19.2 mph but I ran quite well in college a few years ago. We were bith wearing gym/running shoes and in active wear so it’s not like we were in converse and jeans. My girl runs, bikes (uphill mtb racing),swims and hikes so she is quit fit, runs about 45 minutes each day at 9 minute mile pace with few strides and occasionall jumps into races and does about a 21/22 minute 5k. And no, no pics guys.
Anyway she was way faster than I thought, I thought she was gonna get like 12 or 13 mph, maybe 14 at a huge push but she ran at 16mph. I don’t know a lot about women’s sprint times but it makes me wonder what she is doing in these long bike races and triathlons when she seems to have a bit of potential to run a good 400/800.
Should I train her up for a decent 400? What sort of times is she capable of? Something we could do together if she was up for it! :) wouldn’t hurt me to spend some time on the track either even if it is just messin’ about seeing as I’m a good 20lbs over my college weight.
