Can a college runner who used to run 29 minutes Cross Country 8ks on 50 miles a week over the summer drop to 26:30 if he bumps his mileage to 90?

unlikely! But if you have a dream son, go for it!
Nevermind, i thought you were talkin about 10k!
But yes, it is possible in this case.
yes, i went from barely breaking 30 to 26:57 in a season. if you run at Lehigh University, its defintitely possible
I went from about 28:30 my freshman year running 60 miles a week at UCDavis to 26:15 after running 90 miles a week at Mines. I definetly think its possible.
29:17 to 26:15 in a little less than a year. its possible, just gotta do the training
A couple of years back I went from about 40mpw and a typical 29 minute performance to 70 increasing to 100mpw and 26:13. 100mpw wasnt worth a 26 plus but it was a far cry from 29-plus and shows its very possible.
man i am impressed by how dedicated alot of runners are! at my school, people think I am some sort of freak because I run 45-50km/week and sometimes i feel that a 28min or so 8km is not a just reward for training.... but running about 60mpw or whatever for it, you must be dedicated as! keep up the dedication!
