On the NBCSN broadcast, Carrie Tollefson said Des texted her and said she made more than 7 figures last year.
If you are interested in how much other pros make, read this piece from last year:
I don't believe it. One of the 2 made a mistake.
10000.00 is seven figures by some measures.
She also has that liquor business. I believe her. Brooks has to pay her a decent amount of change. She made them look real good for a long time.
Carrie also said that runners don’t like numbers, which is completely not true.
that means Carrie doesn't like them
Funny I said the same thing when she said it.
Have no clue how Carrie got this gig. Can we get someone else, please?

I met Carrie Tollefson. I've also interviewed her twice. She has 3 kids, is still married, and has running camps for kids every summer. Plus she has videos all over You Tube.com to help runners like us. She has done many professional and NCAA championship meets.
She is what is good about our sport!!!

What we learned is that the Letsrun money survey was off.
Better research on bonus's paid , appearance fees, endorsement monies might give a more accurate figure.
Maybe have Des lay it out so other elites can plan and negotiate better for themselves.
Bull! That’s a bunch of Bullock Sandra.
A million isn't what it used to be. MLB players get a half mil min. and they all make well above that.

Stop pushing that terrible piece. It was just guesses.

Yeah, asking agents was really a bad way to go about it.
$150,000 for the Boston win
$20,000 for NYC (overall+US)
I assume a very good appearance fee in NYC as the reigning Boston Champ.
Brooks Bonus for Boston win.
I could see 7 figures with all prize money, appearance, sponsor bonus
Is it possible that Brooks has really big bonus for winning Boston/first female American winner in 3 decades?

I have met her as well. She was a great college and pro runner and I know of her camps and Youtube videos. This does not make her a competent marathon commentator.
Even in the amateur days they used to say winning Boston was worth 1 million in the next year.
I think a lot of people would be surprised how much the top runners make- shoe money, shoe bonus, appearance money (expenses are always paid) and prize money.
I see the problem as the money is all at the top. It doesn't go deep enough.

She looks like she’s lost a bunch of weight of late.
