Poor M.R. Only one to get a mention by name.
Why did I read that article? It said absolutely nothing useful.
“It’s just like the college admissions scandal, taking a spot at an elite college that someone else earned,” Eli Asch, race director of the California International Marathon, said.
What a load of bollocks. It is not "just like" the college admissions scandal, where life trajectories are set in place for life.
This is _running_ for gosh sake. Who cares if someone cuts a corner to run in 4:29 rather than 4:31? Trying to make this seem like stolen valor or something is "just a bit" (way) over the top.

Exactly. Then he goes around Blackmailing them, saying that he'll refuse to post his (alleged) evidence only if they "Apologize", etc., etc.
Some sort of bizarro power trip must feel. Even has a Pod-Cast now.
Running particularly a marathon should be about caring for each other, not tearing the accomplishments down.

He cares about those that aren’t cheating and isn’t tearing any accomplishments down. Unless you consider a fake time an accomplishment
If they aren't cheating, why do they care about those who are? It's not like you get a bigger finisher medal depending on whether you are 12345th or 12346th (to use arbitrary numbers). Only the race itself should care (or not) if entrants "cheat". It's nobody else's business, unless there's an award.
article != op-ed
Awesome! If only we could use same vigor towards dopers and drug cheaters!

Oh, you mean Kenyans.

To be fair (I know that's a stretch around here): Derek isn't talking about cutting corners. He's talking about people who cut significant mileage off of the course and then claim to have run the entire race (i.e., Johnny football's (soon to be) ex-wife who ran something like 7 miles and tried to claim she ran the entire half marathon).
And I've never heard Derek or anyone else, for that matter, make any comparison to someone faking having served in the armed forces. You just made that up out of thin air in order to try to make your point.

NEWS FLASH: Detectives don't just investigate murders.
Derek must be doing a great job if cheaters hate him so much.
Actually, us Second-Gen cheaters get a laugh on our private FB group out of how dumb the n00b cheaters are, that they get MI.Derek all busied to unveil them.

Wow, that sounds fun and fulfilling! You deserve to be proud!
Whenever a cheater crosses the line, they look over at the crowd and see Derek watching. He knows.
The Post should be embarrassed to run this garbage. First Derek has NO respect for running. He's overweight and likes to harass people online. Secondly, Derek isn't some noble person who trying to better the sport - his sole motivation is $$. So this is really a glorified ad for his stalking business.
Derek hasn't given anything to the sport. He takes and takes. He's a Trumper who doesn't even volunteer at local races.
But his biggest crime is that he's really just showing the cheaters - how to do it and NOT get caught. He's so insecure about himself that he has to try to get people to feed his ego instead of helping RDs.
What a low point for the Post.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
