It’s an 8 week marathon specific build up. He not going into this with only 8 weeks of total training.
Ritz has enough talent to run 2:10 again. Whether he does or not is an entirely different question. Wont ge the first time he is running on less training due to injury. That is the story of his life.

You may want to read the article before making an assumption and then being critical of someone else's reading comprehension of that said article.
The article's title is "The Experiment: Dathan Ritzenhein Looks to Conquer Boston Marathon With 8-Week Buildup"
Go get it Dathan! This is going to be an awesome marathon for him. He's going to run 2:06:30, but I'm just spitballing!

Thank you sir. It's good to know other people are covering for my job when I'm making coffee in the morning.

I wish that he does but he hasn't given us a glimpse of hope in like 7 years. At age 36, it's hard to imagine he will somehow turn back the clock those 7 years.
I'm hoping for a solid race from him? 2:12?

It seems like you did not read the article. He ran a 1:01 half at New Orleans and then started his 8 week buildup.

one week training log article on Competitor pegs him at a 2:09-2:10 goal in February.
Of course he isn't a likely winner. Meb wasn't supposed to win in 2014 either. But the shorter marathon specific buildup is a much smarter approach. If it's a fast day, Ritz has no chance to win, but will hopefully run a 2:10ish type of time. If it is a slower day due to weather, he could be a surprise top 5 finisher.

Why would anyone waste time actually educating themselves and making a statement based on fact? Don't you know that spouting bull$hit and expecting others to take it as hard fact is what people do here?

To reiterate what was pointed out above. He raced a 1:01 half and then went into his 8 week build up. If he really raced a 1:01 off zero training then he’s truly the most talented runner in history.
I'm interested to see the results of his 8-week marathon-specific buildup. If it works for him, it might be a useful approach for injury-prone runners. John Kellogg recommended 6-week specific buildups off of a high level of year-round fitness for master's runners.

Since you guys are arguing and being petty over whether his training was 8 weeks or 10 weeks, I feel the need to point out that Ritz's 1:01:24 half this season ranks 764th in the world for 2019. He is trash. And he has absolutely no chance of going under 2:15 this weekend.
I'll predict another DNF or even a DNS.

So that’s the all time list you just linked to. You need to change the filters if you just want 2019.

Ritz wasn't fit enough last year - he was too skinny and would've froze.
When was the last time an American ran up to their hype?
According to Shadrack he was much fitter than he was. Shadrack finished third and Ritz adapts to and deals with cold temps much better than Shadrack.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
