So we’ve seen similar discussions before....can someone run sub 5:00 and deadlift 500 or can someone run sub 5:00 and bench 300, etc...the Squat is usually left out of the discussion because distance training and heavy squatting are polar opposites.
Other than decathletes I’m not sure you could find many athletes who could run a sub 5:00 and possibly pull off a 1000lb total. For the uninformed a 1000lb total is the total weight of the three big lifts: Deadlift, Squat, Bench. A typical well-rounded lifter might Deadlift 400, Squat 350 and Bench 250 to hit that 1000 total. Usually those who lift enough to hit those marks are not the ones training enough to hit a sub 5:00.
What about age grading? There’s not much age grading in powerlifting until you get around 50. A 1000lb total for a 20yr old equates to about 990lb for the 40yr old. Running is different. A 5:00 mile for a 20 yr old is worth about 5:20 for a 40 yr old. As a 41 yr old I say 5:00 is 5:00 lol.
