Since freshman year I've really wanted to compete in the Steeple. Of course, it's not a popular event as most tracks don't have the correct facilities. Now, as a Junior, I've recently found out that there are programs at other Highschools nearby I could go participate in, camps and such. My sister is also an experienced athletic trainer working T&F and has told me that I need to work on hurdling form and jumping overall. I'm a distance kid, 5000 and 3200 are my better events, with PR's in both with a 16:57, 10:21, and my 1600 at a 4:49.
Other than that, any tips on how to get started? I plan on working hip strength through our school's strength training program but also hurdle drills once track season gets close for next year. What's a good time to shoot for? Any ideas of other areas I could hit?
Thanks!
