I'm a high school 800M/1600M runner and recently I've began to incorporate sprint sessions into my training program. For the past 5 weeks I have done one session a week that has been something like 10×30M on the fly at maximum effort with FULL 3 minute walking recovery. I've been very deliberate in making sure that I get entire recovery in order to run at my maximum velocity each rep. I have also done one speed endurance workout that consisted of 8×100M at maximum effort with 4 minute recovery. Olympic lifting has also been a priority, I have consistently done snatches, hang cleans, deep squats, and deadlifts twice a week. Two days ago I had a meet where I ran the 100M for fun to check my speed. I ended up tying my personal best from last season where I hadn't done ANY lifting or sprint training! What factors are limiting me from developing my speed? Am I training wrong? Has anyone had a similar experience?
