Hi,
Looking for some advice. I'm a bigger guy, I currently weigh 110kg (242.5 p) and am 6 foot 1. I am very fit, i hardly have any fat. My weight isnt due to excessive bulking at the gym (although I do do weights) Im just naturally a broad big guy with big but short legs and long torso. I'm probably the complete opposite of a natural long distance runners build. I have been running for about 18 months now very consistently. My pace is slow which I'm fine with and I have been able to knock out a few half marathons. A fortnight a go i tried to run my first marathon in an event. I got 26 kms into the run when I just completely seized/cramped in both calfs and groin and could walk but not run the remaining km's. People who were smaller then me but were clearly not in as good as shape as me just charged past me (they clearly were in better long distance running shape but I just mean carrying excess fat etc etc).
Do I just need to get more km's under my belt? Do people my size ever compete/complete marathons? Are there anyone of note that are my size that do compete in marathons I can follow on social media.
thanks in advance.
