What spikes are the best for mid-foot strikers for middle distance/distance?
Would the Nike Zoom Matumbo 3 work?

No such thing as landing on your mid foot. You either land on your heel or on the balls of your feet.

This. Unless you don’t have an arch it is not possible to land on your midfoot

Okay, what spikes a good for non heal strikers. I should add that I have 55 year old feet and need comfort.

If you're 55, go with some racing flats.
Adidas Avanti, I expected to be sore after my debut mile this season but I felt no soreness the next day. good spikes

I guess you shouldn´t expect a thread without at least a few know-it-all as*hole responses.
I think the Matumbo 3s should be protective enough while also feeling fast. They feel fast because they’re really light and comfortable. I’ve used them from 800-5K without feeling beat up, but wish they had a slightly more aggressive spike plate.
Try them along with a pair of flats like the Streak LT 4s and see what you prefer.

We're not talking about barefoot running. Shoes attempt to disperse force equally. A midfoot strike is essentially landing on the ball and heel simultaneously, but the cushioning makes it feel like the force is in the middle of those two points. This is especially true in meta rocker type shoes.
A lot of faster runners land on the lateral side of their foot. It might be possible to foot strile across the bridge of the foot between the heel and ball. If that person had an avulsion fracture, there might be extra bony material protruding from the side of the foot as well.

This would be true running barefoot, but surely you can land on your mid foot with running shoes, rather than on your heel or the balls of your feet?
