Just thought I'd ask a simple question. Back before xc I went 12 weeks wearing the asics ultimate 81 flats with no real pains at all, but got injured after 12 weeks. However, I was stupid and ran between 80-120 miles a week and i know i shouldn't have run that much mileage. Now that I'm coming back after a long layoff, I bought a pair of New Balance 900 low profile trainers, but still have 2 brand new pair of ultimate 81's and a new pair of puma h streets. The injury was a stress fracture to the 2nd metatarsal. It just happened one day without warning from the morning run or the day before. Would you blame this on the flats or on the mileage? Thanks, just want to get back to running injury free with a safe amount of mileage to be consistent for a few years to see what I can really do. :-)
