Just curious. I heard today from a former Nike rep that it sucked.

..."there"? Really?
Was it a SaladBar?
Here’s what I was told today by a former Nike runner whose friend was a Nike rep.
Former Nike rep who also had a 2:12 PR said Salazar had a restaurant in Oregon. Presumably Portland or Beaverton, that he was relying on his name. The restaurant was failing then Al approached Nike asking for a job. He was hired as the restaurant closed. He butted heads with the rep who referred to Al as a total, shall we say, a certain orifice of the human body. The rep subsequently got transferred because Nike bowed to Al. From there after floating for several years he latched on to his coaching gig.
I’ll try to get the name and location of Al’s defunked restaurant.
Quick Google search, found this article from 1988.

Pressing
Oregon Electric Station. It wasn't Albertos restaurant. Alberto has neither the know-how nor the personality for the restaurant biz. The owner, Cordy Jensen brought Salazar in as a minor partner. To his credit, Alberto was involved in daily operations and I've even seen him cleaning out the lobster tank. So some props on the effort.

OES is a Eugene stalwart. Sounds like your buddy has a load of both bad facts and sour grapes.

Oregon Electric Station is the finest dining available in Eugene. It is a quite well done restaurant. I have dined there twice and very thoroughly enjoyed it. Dining in the train cars is a unique experience.
I heard he fixed an oven at Stars once, but do not know the context.
So, just for facts sake, the restaurant is still in existence and operating in the black?. Does Salazar still have a stake in it? Next time I'm in Eugene, should I have dinner there?
Also, pics of him cleaning the lobster tank or it didn't happen.

Sez who? I don't live in a world of bullsh!t, Son.
I believe I’ve eaten there over 400 times, but only a fraction of that was during Salazar’s time.
I do remember him being front of house greeting customers and focusing on service on big days like Easter and Mother’s Day.
So a former elite was trying to transition to the next segment of his life?
I do not understand why this is even a thread.
What do you people do for work?

The OP started the thread in a failed attempt to bash Salazar and got called out. Anonymity turns mice into me .

It opens at 4 p.m. Today, live jazz this evening in one of it's ,3 bars.
Why do people make personal attacks on this guy?
He's been a success wherever he's been.
I ate there the night before the Eugene Marathon. The plate of spaghetti I ordered was too small to fill me up. Upon learning I was carbo-loading for the race, they gave me another plate free of charge. I thought that was pretty cool.
