I run outside almost always. I am an early morning (4 AM) runner. Cold (I’ve run outside in actual temps of -14 F), snow (blizzards), disgusting humidity, hail, thunder / lightning and extreme heat don’t phase me. But, ice / bad footing is the only thing that can get me on the dread-mill.
In fact, it happened one day this week. We’ve had a lot of snow. Then it suddenly warmed up, rained, and then the temps dropped dramatically again overnight. The result was basically a sheet of ice on all the sidewalks and roads in my area. I opted for the dread-mill that day.
I have tried to run in super icy conditions with yak-traxs before and regretted it (still slipped and fell). To me, the risk of a slip and fall is not worth it.
Really? My yaktrax have been working great, maybe I just have better natural balance than most people though. I use to be a skateboarder and then a bmxer and I would do things like 360 tiretaps without brakes which required a lot of balance..etc.
I also worked pressure washing in a factory at night so need good balance to not sleep on wet concrete or gypsum.
What yaktrax do you have? I have the yaktrax run.

Also gotta inspect to make sure the pins aren't worn off.
And no matter how good of balance you are or if wearing yaktrax I always stop and walk if I'm turning a 90 degree corner.
