I couldn't find any previous threads on this topic, but I might have just been searching with the wrong key words. I have an upcoming 3k race with a prelim and the final the next day. I'm pretty hopeful and confident that I will make the final. I've doubled shorter distances before but never anything this long. My calves have been getting extremely sore after racing lately probably because I switched to all higher drop training shoes to (pretty successfully) stop some calf/ post tib injury issues. I'm already planning on cooling down with compression socks, icing, elevating, and eating right after. Does anyone have specific tips or a protocol they follow?
