I run XC, track, and play basketball for my high school. I decided to get more serious about running after XC season and I’ve been hard this whole winter. I found basketball makes it harder for me to run. These are some pros and cons to basketball.
Pros: we run sprints a lot so I improve anerobically and probably increase mental toughness.
I enjoy playing basketball and I am one of the better players on my team.
Cons: easier to get injured. I have found I’m sore way more often so it’s harder to get out on runs. My knee gets irratated from jumping and running so now I’m in PT. Also, with my homework load going up because I’m taking some AP classes and all the rest honors practically having Sports year round makes it harder to balance with school especially after games which are 45 minutes away so we get there at 4 a team play 4-5 we play 5:30 and then we dont get back until 7:15-7:30 and I have all my hw and a 6 mile run to get done.
I like basketball a lot but I want to be more committed to running and feel better when I run, do you think its in my interest to not play next year?
