Pacific Pursuit 10,000m Monday 2/18 (livestream and elite startlist)

Does NOT look very Elite, I hope a few get the Standard, but I doubt any will, In the Womens race I hope Pappas can improve on her 31:36 for 10000, but the field looks so weak, she might not even get that.

takes an 80 vdot for men to make that standard and a 68 vdot for women

they are both about 95% of the world-records, which seems unlikely for most on the startlist

I thought you said you were going to list the elite field? This appears to be the sub elite race?

Those were the auto standards for nationals last year. Haven't been published yet for this year.

The 10000m auto standard for U.S. nationals/trials has been getting easier as the Worlds' qualifying standard has been getting more difficult.

The target field for the 10000m at USAs has been holding steady at 24 and the field will fill out as needed.

BOOM! Buncha also-rans time trialing a pace until they can't hold it. Only betting would make watching this fun. As it stands, have backup servers on standby as no doubt tens will clamor to tune in: parents/spouses of the participants.

I'll have you know that according to at least one Letsrun poster there's an NCAA Champion in the field: Ann-Marie Blaney.

Look, everyone around here thinks for some reason if you aren't the top 3 in the USA/World then you aren't elite

There aren't any "levels" between sub-elite and elite (I've seen "aspiring elite" used but it's also meaningless)

Are D1 sub-elite? Of course they are - how about D2 and D3, basically any runner in NCAA because the standards are at least 80% of the world-records (D1 typically starts at 85% of WR)

But many of the athletes on this startlist are above average D1 level, so do we call them elites or sub-elites

So I call them elites. Anyone who can do 90% of the WR is elite IMHO, I'm not wrong, you just have impossible standards.

And this is going to be a very fun race to watch, 10000m is a great distance.

Agreed - the women’s field is pretty solid.

Women are starting. Good way to kill time on a Monday.

Steph and Kellyn out front 20:40 at 6400.

Alexi about 160m behind.

Kellyn pulling away, 25:46 at 8000m.

Kellyn 32:13, Steph 32:16, Bravey lapped in the middle of lap 25.
