Good luck to her!!
Good luck to her!!
She's dating McGorty, correct? Let's see how this shakes out. Hopefully well.
Facts.
That’s great for her, but that is a massive group. Shalane, Shelby, Amy, Gwen, Emily, Courtney, Colleen, Vanessa, Karissa, Marielle, Kate, who am I missing? And now Elise. The setup obviously seems to be working, but that’s a ton of workouts to write and a ton of people on the track at once. My guess is that means Shalane has moved more into her coaching role in the group...
That is Cranntastic! She definitely has what it takes to be a Bowerman Babe.
posted about this in the other thread about this, but realized i forgot Schweizer...
It seems the Bowerman Babes are getting so numerous, they can't ALL make team USA anymore?? (assuming Cranny/Fraser can get to that level.) It was an impressive feat in 2016.
Houlihan, Grace and presumably Cranny would all be going for the 1500 team this year and next. At 5k you've got Houlihan, Fraser and Schweizer vying for team spots, with Hall and Infeld (if she can get healthy) maybe running it but probably more focused on the 10k. Then there's still just the pair of steeplers. But if the schedule worked, Quigley could even jump into the 1500 at USAs, though I doubt she'd double or switch from the steeple. And if Shalane decides to run the 2020 trials, they've got three in that race, too!

agree-the more the merrier, but it seems that the 10k is the only distance where it won't be crowded for qualifying spots looking at Huddle going to the marathon (which will be really competitive in 2020)...worked well for the group thus far!

Doesn’t Jerry have a strict no dating policy? I’m surprised he let this fly...
I love how people are grouping together and training together but now I think that's way too many. How many people is it now? 15? that's a full XC team in college...
At this point for 2019 you have:
1500m - Houlihan, Grace, Cranny
3k steeple - Frerichs, Quigley
5000m - Houlihan (if she can double or wants to), Schweizer, Fraser, M Hall
10,000m - Infeld, M Hall, Schweizer, Fraser, Jorgeson, Cragg (for 2020 if she doesn’t make Marathon team)
Marathon (2020) - Shalane, Cragg, Jorgensen
I put this in the order of who I think would be most likely to make it
There seems to be a lot of cross over in the 10k. I think Hall is a little stronger in the 10k, and Infeld is the most talented at 10k but needs get healthy, though she has shown she can get fit quick. I think Schweizer will stick with the 5k.
No conflict in the steeple. I think Grace will get a world spot even if she decides for some reason to go back to the 800m. Cranny, Fraser, and Jorgensen may have the hardest shots making the teams, but I wouldn’t can’t them out.
Pics of the so called "babes"?
Makes me kind of wonder how a coach like Jerry makes decisions on events and races... it's not like college where he has to worry about points or titles. But it's kind of hard for him to look out for each athlete individually, because what might be the best option for one could end up keeping another off the world team.. and then how does he prioritize them?
Some will be injured at any given time and some will be on the rise, some at the top, others on the downside.
They all see how successful Jerry has been with his women's group.

I agree. People can't train alone anymore. They say you need a training group because Kipchoge has one. Did Seb need a training group? No, he trained alone on the roads with his dad. You don't need a training group for motivation.
Yes, the team has grown. I agree there is a limit to how many members Jerry can coach affectively. Don't ya think he can figure this out? I think they are planning for the future. Shalene is transitioning out, Amy probably only has a couple years left, and Emily is seriously injured (will she ever recover enough to run at a top level).
Also, even though training alone is totally doable, it's not enjoyable, especially for certain people.
