I like that this acknowledges Earth has been both hotter and colder in the past. The key, as the article points out, is that it's the *speed* of the current warming that is exceptional.

My advice: Buy some land in the upper Midwest or Canada. Learn to farm and garden. Make sure you have adequate water supply. Learn to live off the grid. Texas and the southeast are going to be uninhabitable in 100 years. Coastal cities will be flooded. Rocky Mountains will be a desert.

2018 was cooler than 2017, which was cooler than 2016 (the hottest year in the instrumented record), so depending on your point of view (short term versus long term), the earth is either cooling (last three years) or warming (instrumented record since 1850).
