Hi I'm a senior in high school who's the fastest on my track team in training, and in most events, but I can't break 2 minutes for the life of me. I run 51.36 miles per week in two long runs then track workouts (I try to get all my mileage in mostly two days because I hate running). In training at the track I whip by my same teamates who can all run 1:55 ish! Say our workout is 4x400 meters with 3 min rest I'll do each in about 55-57, while my teammates will come round in about 65. And it's not like the nerves of racing get to me either, i have pb's in the 1k and marathon of 2:29.99 and just over 3 hours. My pb in the 400 isn't as great, 53 high, I could never even dream of going sub 50 lol.
But whenever I run an 800 I can never break even 2:04 never mind sub 2. I always go out in 1:10 for the first lap so I don't die in the final bend like my coach tells me to. But I always am disappointed to see myself come round in 2:04-5 ish.
My coach thinks the problem is I have pizza every Friday at school. What's your guys experience with pizza?
