My daughter is 11 and in the 6th grade. She ran 1:27.94 for 500 meters in an indoor meet yesterday on a 200 meter track. I'm a former recreational distance runner but never ran track in high school and college, so I don't have much frame of reference for this distance or this age group. Her time won the meet, although the 500 was not populated by the most talented kids at the meet. Is a time like this at 11 the sort of time that you see for girls who end up running in the high 50s by the time they're juniors or seniors in high school?
