Someone please explain why she is doing this exercise?
What is the benefit? What is the reason?

Some psyops going on here.
She wants you to know that she has poor taste in music, is my guess.

But actually it's just a simple stability exercise.
There is likely little weight on the rope, just enough to challenge her to keep her core engaged and balanced in an already tough position to balance in.

This. It's not an arm/upper body exercise. It's a sideplank with added difficulty.
I think she is simply trying to intimidate the Bowerman Babes and show them that she WILL have the sexiest abs in T&F.

Agreed with your interpretation of this exercise.
Btw, terrible choice in music notwithstanding, it is a violation of copyright laws. Technically she is required to pay royalties to use music like this, because:
1) this is a commercial purpose (her instagram is clearly a marketing tool for her professional running career, as opposed to a person blog)
2) this is not a remix/cover or other creative use
I know this is frequently ignored, but it is technically illegal unless she officially licensed this song. If this was on YouTube, the scraper programs used by the music industry could find it, assign the credits to the artist, and collect the royalties from YouTube, which makes everything legal again, but this isnt active on instagram yet.

Apparently I'm talking to you, since you responded.
Do you watch movies, complain about how much you hated it, then watch movies by the same director the next night and complain about that one, too?

TIA-CLAIR TOOMEY is listed at #3...a crossfit athlete...
Where is CrossFit guy (the real one") when we need him. I used to love the "crossfit trolls" on letsrun...

Only #3 - I thought CrossFit athletes were the fittest on earth? Must be something wrong with the way they did the rankings...

Someone please explain why she is doing this exercise?
See your own thread title, genius.
What she is doing, is very hard for the average person. Example; stand on one leg. While on that one leg, bend over and pick something up (without holding on to anything), stand back up. Repeat this over and over. This increases stability. Her exercise also increases stability, but is for someone much more advanced. Much more advanced.
Shyte music or not, that's impressive and I'd wager that 99% of LRC regulars wouldn't be able to hang on for more than a couple of reps.
I tried and couldn't even lift the top leg.
She's practicing her victory salute.
Also challenges spiral lines and hip stability!
It may look silly, but there's more to working out than crunches and Russian Twists!
