I am a huge fan of both Deena and Shalane but our HS team had a debate about it.
Basically here is the argument.
Would you be willing to have their careers if it meant you had to look like they do at their age?
Is it from age, mileage, sun, or diet? Or maybe a combination of all?
You HS chicks will look far worse at their age(s)
You may be right but Deena and Shakane’s physical appearance discourages young runners from wanting to continue to push their bodies at a top end level. O

You should apply that logic to your own mother, except ask how how much younger she'd look if she didnt have you.
You ruined her figure.
Compare them to a person of the same age, Shalane and Deenacdefinately look better than average
Shalane looks about 50-60 in the face.
They both have that old runner look (I do too) The weirdest thing is that they both have written cookbooks like they are doing it right.

I love her, but Joanie B. has suffered the same fate. Years and years of 100 mile weeks takes a toll, much as a beating does on football players, construction workers, etc., etc.

They both look better in candid photos that aren't of them running a 'thon or some sh1t. That being said if they weren't famous and i walked past them on a sidewalk it wouldnt occur to me that they looked anything more than just like a normal skinny person.

I'm going with five to 13 older than myself. I'm the polka king at the senior center.
Marathoners don't age well. High mileage in the elements (sun, wind, extreme temps, high altitude etc). They also have extremely low body fat, affecting the face. Skinny, gaunt faces do not typically look youthful.
