I'm looking to see which is lighter or the heavier of the two. Looks like they would both make a good trainer. Which of the two is more of a racing flat?

The speedstar is an awesome lightweight trainer. The marathoner is not a lightweight trainer, it is a pure racing flat. The speedstar is only .7 heavier, but will hold up and last much longer for training purposes. You will like it. Very low heel, very light weight, no motion control crap.
Perfect! Just what I wanted to hear. I was planning on using the speedstar as a trainer then race in the marathoner. The other only consideration I have is the new cumulus as a trainer but don't know much about them. Anyone?
size 9.5, the speedstar is 1.3 oz heavier than the marathoner, and theoretically the gap should grow as the sizes get larger.
I've recently started using the cumulus, and like it. It's a cushioned trainer, though, and much heavier than the speedstar. not sure why your choice is between them.
The reason why I would consider the heavier typical cushioned trainer over the speedstar is because 1)in my case it looks like the cumulus would give me more miles and 2)I like the idea of stepping up to a lighter shoe come race day.
i see, well if you decide to go cushioned i'd say the cumulus is a good choice. keep in mind its designed for a neutral to underpronator
