Best XC states ranked?

Tennessee? Aaron Templeton was 5th an NCAA XC last season, Lauren Paquette (4th at USA's in the 5000m - 15:14 PR) lives and training in Memphis, Andrew Bumby years ago, Kathy Kroeger, Bridget Hastey, Brock Baker, Chanelle Price, etc.?

Wisconsin has produced a phenom every year. Gessner was 2nd At Footlocker in 2016 and ran 8:47 on the track in 2017. Bosley was 7th at FL and NXN in 2017. He won the junior 5k in 2018 as a junior in HS beating Cooper Teare. He was 5th at FL this fall.

Why are these states good? What makes them different? Obviously, CA is massive so it should be good on just a pure numbers game, not to mention the amazing weather that is conducive to all manner of outside activities.

I can only speak for Utah. I think altitude and climate really help. There is a lot to be said about the culture of running. I think Mountain View really got it started in the 90's followed by Davis and American Fork in the early 2000's. Now you have teams like Timpanogos, Springville, Skyridge, Riverton and Corner Canyon that have either great teams or individuals coming out of them. Let's be honest it all comes down to coaching. Must schools have a xc coach that doesn't know much or doesn't want to be there. Look at the top 10 teams in Utah and you'll find 10 coaches that are very knowledgeably and care a whole lot about the sport.

Tennessee's top end historically has been pretty good. Several boys teams have made NXN (Oak Ridge, Daniel Boone, and Brentwood several times). Additionally, over the past twenty years, the state has sent a bunch of kids to FLN and to NXN as individuals. I'm a fan. However, it's not nearly as deep as VA, NC, FL, and is only about equal to GA and KY in the Southeast, let alone in the US.

Well we weren't able to even workout outside in a few areas because of forest fires so you tell me who has it best. I've lived in Michigan and California and my training has never been interrupted in Michigan.

You've got to be joking having NY ranked 8th...hate to break it to you but the greatest high school female runner of all time, plus the best program in FM (and Saratoga is probably #2 by their history) makes NY easily the best girls XC state in the counotry...not to mention the boys aren't too shabby, individually there hasn't been a star in a couple years but Ben Petrella, Aidan Tooker, Noah Affolder, Conor Lundy, Bryce Millar, Mickey Burke, Nick Ryan were all national-class studs over the past few years, not to mention the national champions and record holders of old. I'd say #1 for girls, top 5 for boys. If you think they're bad because they don't have the fast courses that some other states do, well you're an even bigger idiot than I thought.

Oregon is one of the WORST states in the Northwest for XC. You can't put them at #4 unless you're a moran
