He’s pretty much right. You need to decide why you are going first. Research suggests the benefits last for a handful of weeks after returning to sea level. Most pro groups go to altitude early in the year to create adaptations with the goal of coming home to train very hard. They then go back a second or third time to create adaptations to then race fast.

Depends on how many times a year you are trying to peak. If you are only trying to peak once a year I would go with 4 months. If you are trying to peak twice I would go with the other option.
