Sorry this has probably been posted before but does anyone have recommendation for any ancillary training for the 800

No you're not sorry, you're lazy.
Lifting, ploymetrics, drills, strides, running up and down bleachers are some things I feel have helped me.
This thread has some good info on Rodal’s training, including a lot of non running exercises (he seemed to do a lot of plyometric work)
I did some training with the jumpers/sprinters on my team, usually once or twice a week during the winter. I dropped my time from 2:13 to 1:59 in 11 months. (This improvement is largely due to upping my mileage and training more, but I do feel that these exercises helped a lot for coordination, form and my kick. My form was horrendous last year.)
-Step ups on a bench (Basically A-Skips)
-Drive phase exercise against a wall
-Jump Lunges
-Bounding
-Resistance Sprints
I also did a lot of drills during these practices (~30 mins), look up some Dan Pfaff (very famous sprint coach) videos.
Hope this helps.
