I lost 20 lbs two summers in a row at Marine Corps OCS training during the first 5 weeks; the pace would slow in the 6th week so I would gain a couple back. The keys to my weight loss were:
1. Diet. No alcohol, no dessert, no snacks between meals
no late night eating; otherwise ate any and everything.
2. Avg of 1-2 hours of intense physical excercise every day including 80% running, 20% fast hiking with full pack.
3. Generally a 18-20 hour workday with no rest or nap.

16 pounds gone now. Looks like I lost the weight that was easy to lose but I have to become more serious with my diet. There were some nights where I had to eat something. (I know, nothing to eat after 7:00PM if you're trying to lose weight) I never knew I could sleep so good when I'm not drinking alcohol at all. I'm sure I'll relapse someday.

2lbs per week is the maximum healthy weight loss I believe. If you want to lose a lot of weight quickly, however, how about you just stop drinking water or chop off your arm.

lots of real cold water. really. your metabolism will speed up by warming it up in your stomach. combine with running too though. you will lose weight.
banana and peanut butter on bagels with the pb spread lightly. this will give you fuel for running and not be too weight gaining inclined. and lots of water. it will make you feel full.

well boys, ol' headman's back with some more tips for how to bag the young ones. i'll tell ya, i had me a good workout yesterday afternoon--did 18 miles in 1:50. easy run. again, i'm 43, 5'8", 128 lbs and yesterday afternoon i measured 7 % bf. pretty damn good if i do say so myself. so the lesson for today is--keep yourself in fine form like me and you too may someday bag the 20 something girls. ok ok ok, i know i may sound conceited, but there you have it. don't hate me cause i'm beautiful!
Here's a better tip: Eat all you want. Skip the afternoon workout and stay at work longer. Make $500,000 a year (unless you live in NYC or California, then make $1,000,000 a year).
