Broe's got the best shot but I think Ritz, Torres, Hall, and Dobson (in order of decreasing likelihood) have legitimate chances as well. Goucher obviously doesn't count because he's already on there.

Funny....The list maybe revised big time with the 5 guys you mentioned. I see at list nine and ten spots gone.

Funny isn't it, you take last year's top ten list and the U.S. top ten all time and you only have one guy that would have made last year's world list. Best year since '82 though same year Bekele was born.

lagat is american-he is on the list. the funny thing is that if he trained exclusively for the 5 instead of the 15 i think he could run sub 12:50

let's face it-america now has one of the five best mid distance/distance runners in the world. it's great!

Three of the top 10 were on the same college team at the same time.

Does that mean they were all on drugs, like everyone on here that thinks Salazar was dirty? Does that implicate Centrowitz? I'd like to hear his thoughts on this matter.

Was Billy Mc. at U of O at the same time as Centro? I thought Centro was gone by then.

How old was Centrowitz at the time he ran his 13:12?

Salazar overlapped with Centrowitz and McChesney with Salazar, but they were NOT on the Oregon team at the same time.

How soon we all forget that Dan Brown ran 13:16 last year.

This discussion is about Americans who have good chances at entering the top 10 this year (sub 13:15). Yes, Browne ran 13:16 last year, but he is not on form this year. In fact, he's not even running USATF's, and hasn't put forth any track performances all year, so that's why he's not in the discussion. A healthy on-form Dan Browne could also get in the top 10.

60% on the list are before 1986. What does that tell you about the state of US distance running??
