I have a pretty solid idea on the subject of new balance shoes and spikes, but I have a partucilar question on the MD800 and the LD5000. I will probably run mostly 800s, 1000s, 500s, and mile, and so on... i am kind of a toe striker so i think the 800 would be comfortble, but over greater distances would the MD800 be to uncomfortble with the shape of the toe box/ plate. Again, I know a good bit about this subject, but would like a fresh view.

If the farthest you will be running is a mile Ryan I’d say go with the MD800. It is a much more aggressive spike that will be much stiffer and put you up on your toes more, while the LD5000 will be less stiff and have alittle more cushioning. Both are great spikes just comes down to what you’re comfortable in really.
I forgot the name, but I remember my first spikes I bought. It was the day before my first XC race. Knowing I need some spikes I went to the local sporting store. Well they didn't have any distance spikes/xc spikes. But they did have some spikes for middle distance, more of a 400m/800m type of spike. Anyways I did a 5k xc race in those. And holy sh!t! My calves were so f#cking sore. Just your post reminded me of this.
The MD800 is best suited for the 800 and mile IMO. But, you could get away using them for a 3k-2mile.
