Have worn either the New Balance 980 (or the Boracay) the last four years and have loved it. Seems though that NB isn't making that shoe anymore? Any insight on that? And/or which one of their other shoes now is comparable?

To be candid the 980 was a crap shoe. NB only produced it to fill a hole in the lineup. You should try the 1080. Only problem is they squeak after a while.
Gave the 880 a try , going back to mizuno . Can’t support American company in this climate.
I don't know the 980 actually. But maybe it's like the 890? That shoe gets a decent amount of love.
I'm a 1080 runner and also have the new Beacon. The 1080 is a super plush neutral trainer. I love it for everyday runs and many long runs and some of the faster, long tempo stuff where I don't want any chance of getting beat up. The Beacon is a lighter, less cushioned, but still moderately plush, trainer that I think is the replacement for the Borcay, but others might know more on that front.
The shoe worked great for me. I am a 3 time Ironman finisher so if you think it's crap, to be candid I disagree.
I was thinking of the 1080. Heavier than the 980 though?
I asked about NB shoes. Don't care what your beliefs are on different companies.
Does the 1080 feel heavy? That's my only concern. Will check out the Beacon though. Thanks for the tip.

The 1080 is not a light shoe. However, I think it feels much lighter in my feet than the listed weight. If that makes sense. I guys in trying to say that it runs lighter, to me, than other shoes if a similar weight.
Same with flex. It's not the most flexible shoe in your hands, but I like the feel on the run. Obviously YMMV. Possibly more with shoes than anything.
Excellent. Thanks for the input.
