I'm sure a lot of people have sprained their ankles before. How long did it take you to recover and what condition was your ankle in when you returned to running?
I sprained my ankle a week ago playing soccer. There was some swelling and a lot of stiffness at first, but no discoloration . I could not walk well for 2 days due to the stiffness. I could walk normally again after 2-3 days of RICE. After 5 days I started using a stationary bike and then biked outside on the 6th and 7th day. There is still some swelling now a week later, and while the biking is not painful at all while I'm doing it, it does seem to be perhaps delaying the healing process. I can jog slowly without pain (100m test jogs), but I'm not sure if my stride is normal or what effects a normal run would have on my ankle right now.
I've read all the links on the main thread on the board, but they seem to perhaps be excessively conservative. I don't want to lose all my fitness by doing nothing for a month.
