Berryhill Scratches from 1500. Why?

He's gonna run sub 13:00 and 3:26 in 2007 or 2008 so why should he care about the USATF-Trials this weekend?

But on the other hand according to the masteplan Berryhill should be running 3:32 and 7:30s already this year so....

seriously, this guy is the most talented US middle-distance runner of the last 10-15 years(yes, more talented than Webb) but his career got totally ruined by several bad coaches(not only Mr.Ray).I remember Trackhead commeting months and months of real bad races by Berryhill with "he's expected to be tired and not performing well because of the new training", i mean how stupid is this?

Why should an athlete be tired for a whole season, if this is the case he's training wrong and why is he racing if it is expected that he underperforms?

I ask myself what this guy could have done on a standard no-nonsense middle-distance program.

It is not an "all or nothing" approach. Race 2004 with the goal of making the Olympic team and then the Olympic final. That's the season's goal.

2005's goal is to make the final at Helsinki and run for a medal. Time goals are low 3:30s, 1:44s, sub 7:40.

2006's goal are low 1:44s, 3:30 or better, low 7:30s, sub 13:20

2007's goals are to medal at Osaka, sub1:44, sub3:30, 7:30 or better, 13:10 or better.

2008's goals are an Olym. medal, sub3:29, sub1:43.5, sub 7:28, sub13:05.

Who doesn't have goals like that?

Also in the 1500, Manzano is not entered. Why not?

I notice that Ritz has not scratched yet from either the 5K or 10K.

Did Berryhill make these goals public, or did Trackhead and/or Irv Ray do him that disservice?

Either way, he's trying. If he said his goal was to make the A standard, you same twits would be deriding him for being another US distance runner unwilling to take on the world.

Lets be honest Berryhill's last competitive race was the 3:36.68 he ran in Europe nearly two years ago. He has not done anything of note since then. In fact I don't think he has even broken 4 for the mile.

He is now a just a C international miler. Maybe he can find some B races in Europe to regain his strenght.

There is probably not much difference between Berryhill and Jennings right now.

Some mean person posted those made up workouts to make Berryhill look foolish. You should not believe much of the stuff you see posted on forums. Most of it is crap. Berryhill maybe an average professional miler, but he would blow away most of the people on this board.

What is amusing is that so many of you pieces of crap spend your free time LAMBASTING runners who are spending their free time working to better themselves.

If you consider the worthless nature of your life, I think you'll find it as sad as it really is.

Manzano said since he's just a freshman, he's pulling the plug on his season to start summer training for cross. He's tired, and as the wise Cosmo Kramer advised, he's leaving on a high note or whatever.

Berryhill should go back to Warhurst. 'Nuff said.
