Her teammate Weini Keilati is in even better shape.
One fascinating revelation from the article, UNM's top women do not workout together. So many people think the key to getting better is to join a great training group so you can push yourself in practice. They have scores of great runners and yet they workout separately.
Coach Joe Franklin explains why.
“So many times in sport, you’re compared to people,” Franklin says. “So if Jane Doe is having a great workout and you’re not feeling so good, then you tend to think you had a bad day running. And you may have not had a bad day [but] somebody was feeling good and you weren’t. It takes away the comparisons.
“…It was just years and years of having people coming in after a Tuesday session and be really upset when they had a great workout, it’s just their friend who may be their roommate or a good friend, had a better workout — objectively a better workout, but subjectively it wasn’t necessarily a better workout.”

While I can respect the logic used in the individual preview, I think you might be undervaluing the head-to-head factor a bit in the Monson-Kelati comparison. The fact that, in their one legitimate matchup (Pre-Nats was a team tempo by the Wisco women as you noted), Monson beat Kelati in fairly definitive fashion (~3 seconds isn't a blowout by any means, but it's definitely not a razor-thin victory margin) is certainly noteworthy when comparing resumes. I do agree though that those two should definitely be viewed as the favorites based on total body of work throughout the season.
Note: the poll results are making me lose faith in the Letsrun audience. Allie O is great, but there's absolutely no way she should have a 2-1 edge in percentage points over Monson. -

I suspect people are picking Allie as their favorite runner, rather than who they really think will win. She's so likable. She's made me a Boise State fan. I'll be rooting hard for her and her team to get the titles. (That said, I agree the likely outcome is between Kelati and Monson, and I voted for Kelati.) -

Agreed. I voted for Allie because she is my favorite runner; she has made me a Boise State fan as well. I really do hope she and her team win tomorrow though. -
Monosn needs to be drug tested, she came outta nowhere.

she had iron issues but seems to have figured them out

Who’s Monosn? -
I recall when Allie had a stress fracture several months before Olympic trials...she started to train about 6 weeks out from
the trials and finished eighth ,clearly not in shape....then a few months after the trial she recieved another stress fracture.
That really set her back. So it's been a long road for Allie coming back from two fractures. She also sustained a stress reaction
awhile after her two fractures .So now she is coming into the first full year of training injury free...I remember how , as a
freshman , she walked away from Molly Sidell at Nuttycombe to break Abby D'agostino's course record , and during indoors
she ran an 8:54 and a 15:21....all this as a freshman....I think people forget how good she was before her injuries . Allie
recently wrote on Twitter " When the general strength really starts to pay off " Last week Kelati ran a 19:15:00 but then
Allie ran an 19:08:95 Both those courses had very similar profiles ,I have not found any time that has ever topped Allie's
19:08: 95...Maybe someone out there is aware of a faster women's XC 6K...She could surprise a lot of folks...I thought it
interesting to note that Shelby Houlihan picked Allie to win Nationals... -
I thought it was interesting that Shelby picked her, too. I hope she’s right in her prediction:) Allie really was phenomenal pre-injury. Hoping for the best for her and the Broncos on Saturday.
