hey letsrun! i am a junior trying to run at least a 9:20 3200m and sub 4:25 1600m in the spring. My prs in this year xc were 16 flat 5k at the stanford invitational and a 15:31 3 mile. My Prs on the track last spring were 10:11 and 4:43 which i did with poor training, the whole season i ran an average of under 30 miles per week and died out in mid april. i had no base during winter and didn't run the summer of my last xc season due rolling my ankle while playing soccer. i somewhat had decent training this xc season as i ran about 30-40 miles per week and about 50 miles per week during the summer for 5 weeks. I've been really inconsistant with my training and feel that was the reason i heavily under performed during my xc season. i want to change that this track season and take running more serious. i plan to up the mileage and get a good base in during the winter to transform my fitness level and take me through the track season. so far i want to start with easy mileage with a long run for the first 2 weeks and start having 1 to 2 endurance workout per week til my base ends. ive structured my mileage this way and think i can handle it since im a distance guy and ive never got injured running. is this good or should i structure it another way. any other training advice on how i can reach my goal this spring? thank you!
