We've heard of Bekele's 3 hour long runs on forest trails, what are the "trails" like? similar to hilly/technical "Appalachian trail" or more of a dirt path/road?

If he's in Addis then he probably won't be close to the trails, he's have to make a small trip out of it. I hear the running in Addis itself isn't great. It might be interesting to hear about Haile and Kenenisa's businesses?

Have been to Ethiopia 20 years ago. To this day probably the weirdest country I have been too (40+ in total in case you ask).

1.Try injera the pancake like dish but not expect pancake like taste.

2. If you have any chance, visit Lalibela, on of the most interesting things I have seen made by mankind. Churches carved out of rock. Not one but a good dozen.

3. Semien National Park is cool too but you might not have the time for that.

Curious how the principles of training differ from Kenya, if at all? They seem fairly matched in most races.. are they both using the same methods in training?

What would be interesting to know is how female Ethiopian athletes feel about the new government. A lot of female runners in Ethiopia are seen as symbols of a growing feminist movement in the country. Africa is still a very patriarchal country, even in large cities where more people have been exposed to Western values. Women are expected to have children and be a house wife in Ethiopian society. So, Ethiopian female runners are seen as role models for women who do not want to be part of the traditional patriarchy. The new government's ministries in Ethiopia are half filled with women and the president is a woman. It would be interesting to find out what Ethiopian women think about this and what they think is the future for women in Ethiopia.

A bit hard to believe but no one with LetsRun has ever been to Ethiopia. We've been to Kenya 3 different times, Uganda once, but never Ethiopia.
