Wanted to give them a quick test run and used them for for a small 5k that I won easily. They felt good and I can see why they are a good choice for longer distances, but they probably slowed me down in the 5k, compared to running in something the like the Streak LTs. Overall, a good shoe, but if people think they will just carry you to a five minute marathon PR, they are wrong.

How do you know they are wrong?

Would this be a good shoe for ultra marathons?
I just ran marathons a few weeks apart - one in Kinvara 9s (Oct) and just did one in Vaporfly FKs (Nov). Similar weight, but the cushion of the VFs was noticeable and much appreciated throughout. Ran faster and more comfortably in the VFs. I'd wear them again for comfort alone.

Flats help slower people more in terms of raw seconds off final time than they do fast people. Maybe in trainers I could run 16:00 on the road and 15:3x in flats. A 21 min runner might go from 21:00 to 20:2x.

Don't think so, the slower you run, the less impact a flat will have in terms of percent improvement and may make things worse due to less cushioning, My coach always said if you run slower than about 7:30/mile, don't waste your money on flats.
Same thing with cycling, if you're biking less than 10-12mph, a lighter wheel won't make much of a diff.
Maybe some physics or engineering person knows the math.

they have tested it. flats should be worth 2 seconds per mile . if it is more , like 10-12 seconds per mile, you are wearing ill fitting trainers.
