D2 distance running is a competition to see who can run on the shittiest track at the highest altitude to manipulate the NCAA's conversion charts.
Discus.

I was a D2 runner and i'm pretty sure my sea level PR's are faster than yours. Someone who is actually decent wouldn't make a thread this disrespectful. Post your PR's and we'll see where you stand compared to D2 athletes.
OP I would say that you're probably from a fake D1 school judging by your post. don't be rippin on d2 schools man it aint cute
Bottom line is that D2 is better than running at the bottom 50 of D1 and better than all but the top 10 of D3.

classic, let me guess its a mid major in a competitive conference.....like who says that besides insecure noobs? why cant people truthfully admit where they went to school on here?
oh thats right cause they are lying about going to a mid major D1 to begin with, more than likely most posters are d3 or NAIA scrubs from schools in ohio and pennsylvania

You guys are mistaking the meaning of the original post. I ran and had moderate levels of success in D2 and was often frustrated by the same thing this dude's talking about--missing nationals cutoffs by tiny margins after the results came in from the RMAC. Between the Mines 180m+ "undersized" conversion and the altitude conversions, 5k and DMR times went nuts. This isn't as big of an issue in D1 because many of the schools with national-caliber runners also have the budget to get out to Stanford, Dempsey Indoor, etc. to chase fast qualifying times with everybody else in D1. He's not saying that D2 is the lesser division in his post, but rather observing that many of the top times in D2 seem to come from conversions.
At least that's how I read it. Who knows, maybe he is a jerk after all.
mines track does suck, made my ankles hurt every single time on those impossibly sharp turns.
and yes colorado schools, mines, adams, western def take advantage of altitude conversions but only morans would claim they dont back it up at nationals. back when i was at adams we got a huge altitude DMR conversion, and people talked sh*t...we won nationals. i think the OP is an insecure douche who has no idea about running at altitude on small sh*tty tracks. i watched a 1:53 at mines and dude ran 1:48 at nationals.....is it worth 5 seconds? maybe not but tight curves, short track at altitude....i mean whats the stadium records at albq on that indoor track? think about that
haha
