This has the potential to be a stupid question if I am overlooking something, but generally sites list a single weight for a shoe.
Doesn't the weight vary with size, e.g., a size 6 of the New Balance 765 weighs less than a size 12 simply because the latter has more shoe?
they take a common size of the shoe and list that weight. i think mens is 10 and womens is 8 but i am not sure. different sizes have different weights
I believe a men's is size 9. This is also the reason shoes continue to take larger sizes to fit your foot. Example: I was a size 10 growing up in the early 80's. My feet quit growing, but it took a 10 1/2, then 11, and now even an 11 1/2 in some brands. This is so the weight can continue to rise, but on paper, a size 9 is still the same as years ago or lighter.
That is not true as you get older your feet expand, there is some difference in sizing between different makes and models. If any thing people should be experiencing their shoe size going down now that many companies are going to what they call true sizing.
All weights for shoe companies are taken off the men's size 9 american shoe - this is the size that prototype, promotional and sample shoes come in, which is why it's sweet to work in a running store if you have size 9 feet because you can totally score loads of promo and sample shoes for free. But usually the reason that promo shoes never make it to market is because they suck, so that part doesn't rock so much...

Where was this? The back of a cereal box? Haaaaa. Feet don't expand in length or permanently in width. Shoe sizes are getting higher for everyone I know.

Actually they do. As you get older, the supporting
structures of the foot weaken and the foot flattens
out and becomes longer and wider. Circulation also
decreases with age and many people experience swelling
in their feet.

My foot has always been within a 1/16th of an inch of 12". I have stepped off many a distance pretty accurately. I just measured it. 11'11 15/16", the same as a teenager. I started in size 10. I now wear 11 and even 11 1/2 in some shoes. I am not buying the "flattening, circulation, swelling theory" as the answer to changing shoe sizes. I am not doubting it is possible, but not in this case.
