I’ve actually wondered about that, lol. Kipchoge’s 2:01:39 marathon was run at 12.9 mph. The internet says that a moving walkway, on average, goes 1.4 mph. So, if Kipchoge ran a marathon on a moving walkway, he would be going 14.3 mph, which would give a marathon time of 1:49:36.
No so fast. He'd be facing significantly more drag from the air at that extra speed which would affect his endurance.

There are also gaps and a lot of 180 turns. And then a lot of people don't stand on the left like they're supposed to.
Why didnt they use these in breaking2?
Unlike the swapping pacers, no where in the rule book does it explicitly say that a marathon record is invalid if it is ran on "those moving walkway things at the airport".
After an 18 hour mechanical delay, I was once finally sent on a flight to Detroit around midnight, where I'd be able to finish my journey with a 7am flight the next morning. Although I eventually grabbed a little shuteye on the floor of the deserted airport, the first thing I did was change into running clothes, put my luggage in a locker (back when they still had those), and do a 75 minute run around the terminal. I ran both with and against the moving walkways. With them, I felt like a freaking god.
Nordberg? What’s he doing in Detroit? Send him plane fare and a new pair of pants!
N/A. It acts like a treadmill, so he would take off.
U must be bored
