No.
Is this some kind of euphemism or are we literally talking honey here?

I am talking about literal honey....
As long as Honey is over the age of consent it should be fine. I doubt it will affect your time.
The best diet for running is beer and pizza.
you can try honey, but a more readily available energy source would be maltodextrin. Honey works a little slower, as does dextrose. Some like two sources and combine maltodextrin with dextrose.
Some people find that honey upsets their stomach.
If you want to take the easy route, just experiment around with the energy gels and find one that agrees with you.
As for when, energy gel companies usually recommend about 20 minutes before your event.
Honey is NOT a good food to eat .

And the best pizza topping is honey.
(I'm super serious, try it.)

In all seriousness, you need to dilute it water, at least 1:8, better in 1:10 proportions. Maybe even add a pinch of salt and you have made yourself a great and cheap endurance race drink... But not for 5Ks ffs, for marathons maybe... Thank me later;)

if you are ever stuck having to eat cheap frozen pizza like jacks/roma try putting some butter on top.. about 8 or so tiny chunks spaced out over the top before you put it in the oven. it melts in with the cheese and sauce and makes it taste a lot richer.

What stuff?
I see that it has passed already a lot of time and everyone here tells that it is not ok to eat honey before a race but I disagree. Honey has a lot of benefits and one of them is the energy that it gives to us. Actually, I know a lot of runners who think that honey is equal to sugar, but they don't know that thanks to this natural sugar they don't have problems with skin, and the energy that they get is incredible. You can read here https://www.eiwahoney.com/blogs/honey-and-health/top-ten-amazing-honey-benefits-for-skin more information about honey and its benefits. Hope that you'll change your opinion.

Why?
One year, my best runner (a spec ed kid) ate honey before a major XC championship and ran 1 minute slower than expected. It gave him a tummy ache.
Ja but take it with other natural food. Like I do
with the milk of almonds, powder of cinnamon. Also honey in blackberry juice is possible. Are you craving these?
