A University of Utah track athlete was shot and killed Monday night, the school the announced.
Lauren McCluskey, a senior communication major from Pullman, Washington, was found dead in a parked car near a residential hall on campus. The suspect believed to be responsible for her death was found dead a short time later at an off-campus location.
It sounds like the murderer was a former boyfriend. Lauren's mother was on the phone with her when she was abducted. What a tragedy for Lauren's family and the track team at the University of Utah.
Geezus, what a tragedy. Wow. Just wow.

Read the whole article next time, she didn't know his age or much else about him and they only dated about a month before she found out and broke up with him.

Going to be more to this story. Just read she had a "previous relationship" with the killer. A 37 year old sex offender?
He lied about his age and past. She broke up with in earlier in month but he apparently was using her car because she requested a police escort to get it back and complained of harassment. This all comes from the statement given by her family.

“Last night a little before 9 pm, she was returning to her university apartment from her night class and talking to me on the phone,” (the mother) said. “Suddenly, I heard her yell, “No, no, no!” I thought she might have been in a car accident. That was the last I heard from her.
Just awful.
Not only lied about age and past, even lied about his name. The girl had no chance.

Yeah, he lied about his age, name and criminal history. He's 37 but passed for late 20s as far as she knew. Once her friend told her the scoop she dumped him. Like many evil, abusive controls freaks he decided to take her life instead of letting her go.
Upsetting and tragic. RIP, Lauren.
I saw this around the Internet, tragic news. Murder typically happens between people that know each other, so it wasn't random. The guy either killed himself or was shot by police, not sure if that is conclusive yet.

Can't even imagine what her mother is going to have to deal with from now on. Then the guy is so selfish and gutless he kills himself. Hard to imagine a more horrible story for the family of this girl
