Something I don't understand about most running shoes..

The Adios is a racing flat, and at that it's great: lightweight, secure fit, great traction, responsive ride.

It shouldn't be your daily driver, as it doesn't have enough cushioning for long runs for most people, and the outsole will be gone in 2 months.

IIRC, 95% of runners are heel strikers, so you'll need to find a shoe with good forefoot cushioning. It's not just the thickness, but also the material and the amount of heel-to-toe drop that affects forefoot cushioning.

I run in Hokas so I can't recommend a shoe for you. I mean, you could try Hokas, of course, but for some reason, younger runners don't like them.

Hokas are great for older runners and runners with chronic injuries. That said, I like the Hoka Napali, available only at Running Warehouse. I did NOT like the Hoka Cavu at first, but it is growing on me after using it as a backup shoe for a while. My training partner wears one of the Bondi models... 4 or 5. He liked one (4 or 5) and didn't like the other. Sorry, I don't remember which one he liked.

The Adidas Boston is a great daily trainer. I used to train daily in the Adios when I ran on grass, but I wouldn't risk that on concrete.

Cushioning is over-rated, but you probably do benefit from some wherever you make impact, especially on hard roads.

Girl at my local high school who is one of the better runners in the state wore hoka at the local roadrace a couple months ago. I saw quite a few younger runners racing in the Clifton 1 at 7.6 oz.

So are all of you just a bunch of dang hobby joggin heel strikers or you trying to pull my leg?

your astute observation could obviously have lead you to make a different conclusion. that all the hokum talked about what shoes will or will not do for your feet whilst running is pure marketing gibberish, what my grand father would have called spider prattle.

I am a mid-foot striker so all that heel cushioning is, not exactly dead weight, but, shall we say, surplus to requirements. I run around 50 mpw in Brooks GTS and get around 8 months out of a pair before I feel the need to change them. it's the inside of the forefoot, under the ball of the big toe, that goes first.
