I am a freshman in high school that has recently started to take cross country seriously. In middle school I never ran faster than 13:00 minutes in the 3k ~7 minutes per mile. In seventh grade track season I never ran faster than a 6:42 mile. During this summer June-August I began actually starting to put in work. I play baseball and swim and so I missed a good chunk of July/June but had six consecutive weeks of 25-30 miles and began building up my stamina. I go to a large high school(2500 people) and once cross country season started I really began to take things seriously. Out of the 20 freshman I began at the middle of the pack after running a 9:36 in our 1.5 mile time trial.
At our class Jamboree races(2 mile) I ran a 13:26
At our first 5k meet I ran a 21:43
At our second 5k meet(home course) I ran a 20:59
At our third 5k meet I ran a 20:32
At our fourth 5k meet(Home course again) I ran a 19:50 and split the fastest mile of my life with a 6:16 first mile
We still have two meets left this season at reasonably fast courses and now that I have discovered that I have at least a slight amount of potential for running I was wondering what people thought of these times and what my level for improvement is. Also what should I do this winter and which events should I run in track.
P.S Just a little background information about my district the top varsity runners on my team run 15:30-17:00 minute range and are generally competitive at districts state and placed towards the end of the pack at NXR
