I bet scropion_runner is going to scream that she's on epo and peds or how else could a HS girl running only year or so beat the crap out of so much American boys of her age and run 17:37.
Of course we all know that being an East African doesn't give any benefits. And we all know they are not genetically more suitable for running by being skinny with large skin area that dissipates heat very efficiently and by having greater percentage of fast twitch muscles. And of course we all know that they just like American kids sit all their childhood by TV and eat burgers and fries. It obviously must be PEDs and EPO that makes them great.
The last part was sarcasm (so that scorpion_runner get it)
Hana Hall (Ryan's and Sara's) daughter just ran 17:37

That’s awesome. What grade is she? And she doesn’t even have his and Sara’s genes. So maybe it’s the coaching!! -
Couldn't possibly have anything to do with a high school runner being coached by two top runners.
-
She is in grade 11
She has progressed well in XC in the last 3 years, from 19:08 to 18:39 to 17:37
However, she was only 2nd in this race behind Tiani Goeson (grade 9), who ran 17:33.
Tiani was herself only 10th at Woodbridge a couple of weeks ago (30 seconds behind the winner Tori Gaitan, who herself was 29th at NXN last year)
So Hana is not up there yet. But she is progressing very well. -
Very impressive. When she was running high 18's last year I thought that was great, but she should be prepared to plateau. But it looks like her potential was much higher than that.
-
Also, they live in Flagstaff year-round now?
-
She's altitude trained now.
-
You think the Hall’s what are great people?

No way. Do the Halls really have a 16 year old daughter? Does that mean they had premarital affairs? -
God sure does know how to write a training plan

Was their a tailwind?

They adopted you moran. -
I am not in the least bit religious and have no need . But i think very highly of the Halls in adopting these four young women. It is especially heartening to see that their decision kept the sisters together. And their daughter Hana need only enjoy the sport, and use it as a way to express herself as she grows and adapts to being a teenager in this country. I have nothing but respect for the Halls.
-
Actually, I didn't even know that they had a daughter. I don't follow their personal lives, just their running.
However, that's a great time. She appears to be well trained. But far from being a suspect time.
Nothing to see here.
I just have no idea what this have to do with the massive doping issues in East African nations. -

Pretty much. Very solid people in running and society. I will always root for both runners, and I hope their daughter(s) takes it to the next level. -

Their four daughters are biological sisters adopted from an East African nation. -
Ryan and Sara were just ONE child away from acting out my dream of putting together a full cross country team of adopted east africans. Hopefully they can find another scorer, and quick

So now we are reaching just to be reaching.
The africans I excuse of doping are africans who are suspect based on their history of running and affiliations. I don't accuse runners of doping just because they are african or descend from an east african country. That's nonsense.
All of this over Almaz Ayana, who is on everyone's radar as being doped out of her gills ? You guys are reaching like kids swinging on monkey bars. -
This is an exciting story. Hana ran a great time, and though she was only second, she has demonstrated an ability to improve consistently. While there are many other high school girls at a similar level, and who will also continue to improve, Hana's story is positive and worthy of my admiration. I wish Hana, and Ryan and Sara, only the best.

I believe that the OP was implying that if the Halls adopted 4 random girls in the US, they could train them to be the best runners they could be, but it would be highly unlikely that that the girls would achieve those kinds of times (which are not championship times, but still very high with regards to percentiles). It supports a point of view held by many people (but resisted by some on these boards) that East African domination of long distance running is primarily due to genetic and cultural differences, not PED-usage, even if there is a PED problem in East Africa (and elsewhere). I am not familiar enough with your posts to know how this relates back to you.
