Pretty cheap considering the age cheating which goes on in Kenya, and the whole thing is a just a major dick move by the Alabama coach.

How can you single out Alabama when almost every top distance program has a backbone of foreign athletes? Seems as though when they're European nobody cares but being Kenyan is a crime?
Also, what is cheap about it? When did the NCAA create an age limit?
Quit complaining about Kenyans. We had two summer Olympics sans Kenyans. Those Olympics were boring. Kenyans get to stay. How about you go and find your paradise else where. Sprint 200m. Not too many Kenyans sprint 200m.
Alabama is fair to single out as they seem to be one of the top teams in the country this fall, and it also seems as if their entire top 5 will be Kenyan
NCAA is not the olympics

You did not say OP if you have evidence U of AL is violating one or more rules? If not, ask your coach at your university to open the doors to more foreign student athletes.
NCAA. Ok we get it. Kenyan distance runners. Kick our little white boy's asses. OK. Go for it.
Unless they are cutting courses or taking PEDs they are not cheating.
I don’t have a problem with it. But many of the top teams are not loaded with Africans. Oregon, Stanford, Portland, BYU?
Yeah screw Alabama this isnt the Kenyan collegiiate championshipsw. Sorry hard words!!!
Alabama is a WORLD RENOWNED UNIVERSITY with WORLD CLASS ACADEMICS!!!
ROLL TIDE!!
NCAA does have age limits, and we know how rampant age cheating is in Kenya and Ethiopia even among world class athletes

So even though Providence and Nova are loaded with Aussies, Kiwis and various other imports, it's okay to give them a pass since they don't actually go all the way with their imports?
Age limit has been 25 for decades unless there are extreme circumstances which fall under NCAA regulations. Unless that rule was abolished in the last few years.
It's not quite a matter of just ringing up Brother O'Connell in Iten to see if he has any promising kids who want go to college. It's a lot of work to get athletes from Kenya into a university, and usually coaches undertake it only if they can't get Americans who are as fast. Calling it the easy way or a shortcut is far from true.
At least Alabama is less racist than places like Oregon.
Can't be that hard if Alabama HAS 5, it is an extremely cheap strategy. Alabama isn't making a huge effort to get Americans or non African imports, they are just taking fast Kenyans who are probably age cheats. The Alabama coach is clearly a dick.

Yeah. There's a difference between recruiting from Oceania and recruiting from Kenya. For one thing, the process of recruiting from a first world country even if it is foreign is very similar to recruiting Americans.
But the main reason is there is a hell of a lot more talent in Kenya than in Oceania. So if you just take athletes from Oceania you will still need to develop them which takes skill as a coach. ON THE OTHER HAND. Alabama has imported 5 Kenyans, who might all be All Americans, and as I've said way too many times on this thread, we don't know their real ages..That doesn't take coaching ability, it's just a cheap strategy to perform well
No age limit.
There is a 5 year clock that begins with post secondary school college enrollment, or one year after completing secondary school if a student does not initially enroll in college.
In Kenya and some European nations I have talked to plenty of students who finish secondary school at 19 (sometimes 20) years of age. Euros commonly use the gap year as well, unlike Americans.
This effectively puts a 25ish age limit out there, but missions an military service can stop the clock. BYU does it.
I have always wondered why Americans don't enlist for two years and train regularly before college. Clock stops, you age and pick up federal aid as well, that you can pocket in addition to a scholarship. Seems like a good idea to me if you want to compete with the older runners.

Hello, Alabama didn't integrate until 1967. Reason: wanted black football players!
