What is the median 5k time for all high school varsity boy's races across the country for an entire season? This is inclusive of good programs, bad programs, big schools, small schools, elevation, flatland, hills and everything in between. One number, a median time.

To get a rough estimate, just pick an average invitational at see what the median runner's time is. You'll probably be within 10-15 seconds of the answer.
That's what I did. The answer: 18:30. That's for one undistinguished invitational with a mix of faster and slower teams from larger and smaller schools in an unprominent corner of the country. I'd bet the national median was 18:15-18:45.
