I am currently beginning my junior cross country season and am searching for some flats (I'm in CA) ..
Can the Nike streak lt4 be used as flats? (worried about slippage on dirt, etc)
Which would be better: the streak lt4 or the brooks mach?

Everyone on our team uses the Nike lt 4s, and from personal experience it’s pretty good as long as it’s not rocky. It’s good enough for running on dirt, but no amazing.
Here is a video that talks about xc spikes(all info of spikes applies to the spikeless version). Compared to the streak the other flats will be a bit lighter, more aggressive and have better traction but have a bit less cushioning and some may be heavier. The streak may also trap more mud if that's an issue for you. I recommend buying the flats you like on runners warehouse(free shipping for CA) trying them on and returning the flats you don't like (they have a very good return policy)
