My question is can I go from 16:40 to sub 15? Is it even possible if so Ill try my life off to make it possible. Started running seriously as of last year (sophomore year).

Highly likely not. XC or track? Previous training vs current training? You will not break 15min in a year but you can potentially improve substantially. PRs in other events?
Almost no high schoolers legitimately break 15 minutes so it highly unlikely that you will do it, even during senior year. Cut 30 seconds from last year, then 20, then 10, to hit 15:40 as a senior.
NO. EOT.
Yes, if you are able to race 1500 metres in 3:50.
Absolutely! According to all of the very accomplished athletes that post on here, I think with 100 mile weeks, a specific drop shoe and Jack Daniel's Training as your bible you can always be great! But get the mileage in first, the more the better, has to be well over 100 mpw AND don't forget FAST.....rest is for the weak!!
I don't know if you're serious, but there is no chance. It would be improving from mid-packer to elite.
I'm intrigued to know what it would mean to try your "life off." I agree with the others--it's highly unlikely. But you need to give some more details. It sounds like you're a junior now; is the 16:40 a XC time from fall of your sophomore year? What are you expecting to run this fall as a junior? Or have you run 16:40 this fall already and you're hoping to run 14:59 next fall? That won't happen. Now, if the 16:40 is from last fall as a soph and you're aiming to run 14:59 on the track as a senior at the end of your 2019-2020 season, that might be barely possible. But still pretty unlikely. Give us PRs for other distances and a more clear timeline.

Any reputable coach (Jack Daniels included) would tell you that having such a specific and arbitrary end goal is the wrong path to take toward improving. The process/training is what is most important and all you can really do is try to train intelligently. They would all then give you a responsible path forward that is not likely to give you such a huge drop.
Fortunately I am not your coach or doctor, but rather some guy on the internet who the legal system thinks is so implicitly untrustworthy that I can never be held liable if you get injured by listening to me. So I can tell you things like the only way that will happen is if you are willing to risk serious injury by significantly upping your training. You would need to really improve your aerobic, speed, and racing ability. Overdoing all of these at the same time is often disastrous.
All I ask is that you consider running could be something you do as an adult, not just as a school kid. You do not need to worry about being a worldbeater tomorrow. You can be better at 22 than you were at 18 and then at 26 you can be better than you were at 22. Every year you will reel in more people, but not if you f--- it up every year.
I wish you luck, but I doubt you'll run under 15:50 this year. Also training? Other distance prs?
Screw everyone else bro. Just keep training consistently increasing mileage and workouts over seasons and you will improve. Get good grades, sleep and don’t eat garbage and party and you will be a lot better than anyone thought you could be. Don’t go too crazy with increasing training. Also hit the gym. I went from a 44x guy to a 417 guy in one mf year so screw everyone else. 12 months is a lot of time to improve. Be patient and consistent and don’t get injured and you are golden.
Who knows? Everyone is different. Won’t know until you try.
On Saturn
highly doubtful
Possible? Yes. Likely? No.
What’s your training been like? What’s it like now? Was the 16:40 on a fast or slow course? What are your track pr’s?
if you began running about a year ago and you've already run 16:40 then you theoretically could improve to sub 15. just raise your mileage steadily and don't go all out in training (once or twice per season max).
I'm not an amazing runner but I went from 17:00ish to 15:40s in well under a year after having run for about 1.5 years to hit 17:00. that time wasn't perfect training so I think I could have reached 15:20s if I had prepared better, which is about the same amount of improvement you are seeking.
it's worth noting that I made that jump about 4 years ago and my PR is still only 15:20s, so I never really made much more improvement

You should be able to get down to a 16:05 5K with one year of good training. For more information on how I calculated this, you can see my post: http://micro.runnerspace.com/profile.php?member_id=173603&do=photos&photo_id=922656
If you are consistently over/undertrained, yes.
